A quintessential brick and flint period cottage full of character and charm. Discreetly nestled in a quiet location just off the Quayside, you are only a few steps away from the hub of this bustling seaside town. There a parking space too. Bingo!
Deceptively spacious, Wellfleet Cottage is a delightful conversion of a grain store dating back to 1636. Expect beams, vaulted ceilings and different levels on both floors, but this quirky cottage is light and bright, comfortably furnished and well-equipped. On the ground floor there is a charming breakfast kitchen, a spacious sitting room and a shower room, with adjoining laundry area. Up the stairs, which are wide and straight and split half way, there are three bedrooms (a king-size, double and single) and a further bathroom. Although there is no dedicated outside space, because the cottage enjoys such an enviable position so close to the Quay, you are not short of places to sit on a sunny day where you can watch the world go by and the fishing boats come and go.
From the cottage, you are only a few minutes' walk away from independent shops, cafes and some great gastro pubs that populate the maze of narrow streets, old alleys and yards. The town's beautiful sandy beach, with its pine trees, sand dunes and colourful beach huts can be reached by either a pleasant fifteen to twenty minute walk, a short drive or by using the miniature steam train that runs from and to the harbour. Join the coastal path for a bracing walk to Stiffkey and beyond in an easterly direction or follow the path that runs behind the pine trees that line the beach and leads to Holkham Bay. Definitely try crabbing from the Quay and try and make time to visit The Maltings arts centre, which hosts a gallery, theatre, cinema, museum about the history of Wells as well as a coffee shop.
Additional Information: One well-behaved dog welcome (small additional charge). Double beds have feather duvets and synthetic pillows, the single bed has a synthetic duvet and pillows. A travel cot and high chair are available on request. Gas central heating.
