Grooms Cottage is a unique, single storey property converted from the former stable boys quarters that comprised part of a Victorian country estate. The majority of the large house was burnt down in 1939 but the site still retains servants quarters let on a long term rental, and the ancillary buildings of stables, yard and gamekeepers house. A stay here will give guests a real ‘country house’ experience, complete with your very own trout fishing lake that can be viewed from your sitting room window. Children can be left to have ‘Swallows and Amazons’ adventures in the parkland and even row the little boat on the lake, (at own risk). Fishing rods, life jackets and lots of outside games are provided.
This is a wonderful opportunity to be only a 20 minute drive from the coast, yet enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a lovely rural location, where wildlife abounds; with deer, foxes and bird life on your doorstep. If the weather is inclement there is plenty to do in the locality, and Sandringham House is very close by.
The accommodation is furnished in a comfortable, quintessentially English country house style, with a large open fire, an AGA and antique furniture, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. The property is situated well away from roads with extensive grounds, including the fishing lake and parkland, to which guests have access. This is an extraordinary place to stay at any time of the year.
Additional Information Up to four well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge).
