Spring Cottage is an attractive, stone cottage on the edge of an ancient village of Powerstock, West Dorset in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is an ideal base from which to explore the Jurassic Coast and all it has to offer. West Bay which featured on the TV drama Broadchurch is only five miles away and the spectacular World Heritage Coastline is within easy driving distance. Lyme Regis and Charmouth (famous for fossils), Abbotsbury, and the county town of Dorchester a short drive away and the lively market town of Bridport with it's array of eclectic shops, art deco cinema, Arts Centre and every Wednesday and Saturday the famous street market selling artisan food and bric-a-brac. For those who love walks and nature you could not be in a better place with walks in every direction, head to Eggardon Hill which lies about 1.5 miles south-east of the village. On the summit is a 14-hectare Iron Age Hill Fort with amazing views of Dorset AONB & Lyme Bay, or discover the ancient woodland of Powerstock Common. Circular walks from Powerstock takes in large sections of disused railway line, ideal for cycling. The popular beach of West Bay is only 5 miles away on the Jurassic Coast and there are many attractions close by to suit all tastes including the Sub Tropical Gardens of Abbotsbury, fishing trips, fossil hunting at Charmouth, horse riding and much more. The Three Horseshoes and The Marquis of Lorne offer good Dorset food, within walking distance of the property.
