Anyone wanting to discover the local area by car will find themselves well placed to explore the many attractions of East Devon, West Dorset and the Jurassic Coast. The owner's residence and artists' studios are next to the cottage which shares an environmentally friendly reed bed system and spring water pumped from a well in the garden. Lyme Regis itself is a truly fantastic place. Situated on the magnificent UNESCO Jurassic Coast, it's known as the pearl of Dorset and upon visiting, it's easy to see why. A famous spot for fossil hunters worldwide, it also sits on the South West Coast Path and offers a whole host of wonderful hikes and walks nearby. Lyme Regis' sheltered south-facing beaches are safe for both children and water sport enthusiasts, with great fishing and leisure boat opportunities available from the Cobb harbour. It has a fantastic food and music scene and is often used as a prime filming location. There are also vast amounts of festivals and events happening in the town throughout the year. Some of the bigger ones include the jazz and folk festivals, Food Rocks, Regatta & Carnival Week, Guitars on The Beach, and Lifeboat Week which offers a week of fun, games, music and displays for all the family. Of course, there are also loads of smaller events happening as well! Charmouth is located in the heart of this lovely West Dorset county is the seaside village, and famously featured in the television series Broadchurch. Charmouth has a small selection of shops and a post office as well as pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre on the seafront provides a wealth of information about local geology, rock pooling and fossil collecting. There is also a large park, with a well-equipped children's playground nearby. There are also regular bus routes running through the village along the Jurassic coast and it's only a five-minute drive to the historic seaside town of Lyme Regis with its famous Cobb Harbour.
