Forge Cottage is situated in the idyllic village of Wootton Courtenay one of the most desirable locations in Exmoor due to its warm micro-climate and sheltered position The cottage has been converted from a barn which is close the Old Forge and now offers comfortable and spacious holiday accommodation for 2 or 3 guests Sleeps 2-3 people in one bedroom with King-size double bed plus single bed Rural location in the quiet Exmoor village of Wootton Courtenay Off-road and under cover parking Great location for exploring Exmoor access to paths and rights of way from the door Short walk to the village shop Bed linen and towels provided Electricity and oil-fired heating included Dogs welcome 2 max for 15 supplement per dog Arrive from 4 pm Depart by 10 am Downstairs there is an open-plan living area comprised of a good sized lounge with wood-effect electric stove and dining and kitchen area Upstairs is the large bedroom with King-sized double bed and a single bed The bathroom has a large shower hand basin and toilet There is a car port for parking your car under cover just to the side of the cottage The village shop is a short walk away and numerous stunning walks over the moors and through woodlands are literally on the doorstep including the Macmillan Way which passes by Appliances and equipment Forge Cottage kitchen is well-equipped and fitted with fridge freezer microwave electric oven and hob Other equipment includes toaster kettle a variety of kitchen utensils cutlery crockery and glasses A television with Freeview DVD player and iPod docking station is provided in the living room The cottage does have limited internet access Electricity and heating Forge Cottage is fitted with oil-fired central heating throughout which can be adjusted to suit your preferences Heating and electricity is included in the price of the accommodation Linen and towels Bed linen duvets blankets and towels are provided for your convenience but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips Other provisions Tea coffee sugar milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt pepper oil and a few herbs or spices available Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid and surface cleaner will be present in the property One or two toilet rolls will be provided Outside the property There is a small patio with garden bench which is south facing and sunny The village roads runs to the front of the cottage this is not a busy road but please take care when exiting the property Parking There is off-road and under cover parking for one car directly beside the property Dogs Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement maximum of 2 A supplementary fee of 15 will be added to your invoice per dog Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time Smoking This property is strictly non-smoking Local amenities Wootton Courtenay benefits from a local shop which is just a short walk away Please support our village by making use of the Villagers Store Minehead is the nearest town approximately 4 miles away Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations Tesco and Morrison s are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours most major high street banks with cash machines plus a range of other shops throughout the town Arrival and departure The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests Changeover days Forge Cottage is available for week breaks Saturday to Saturday during peak periods Short breaks of two three or four nights may be available at other times Please see our availability page for further details Local area The village is neatly perched in a sheltered position at the foot of Dunkery Hill the beacon on the top is the highest point on Exmoor at 519 metres above sea level From the beacon you will have a 360 degree view both along the coastline and of the surrounding countryside Nearby Grabbist also has spectacular views from the top and it is said to have provided the inspiration for the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful Exmoor National Park is 267 square miles of rural idyll rolling hills with open heather moorland and sweeping valleys covered in ancient oak forests Whether you just want a relaxing holiday exploring the picturesque villages or an energetic Exmoor holiday with mountain biking riding and walking you will find plenty to keep you busy Exmoor has an abundance of wildlife herds of wild red deer and Exmoor ponies roam our landscape and buzzards soar majestically overhead
